On trying yogurt again
September 3, 2007
I hate yogurt.
I often liken eating yogurt to being on an episode of Fear Factor.
It just tastes… funny.
But I am trying to mix up the foods I rely on, experiment with things that will keep me full (and be good for me), and subscribe to the idea that yogurt may aid my progress. (But three servings? Oh please.)
I bought six flavors of Light & Fit this week and will try to commit to trying one each day.
Luckily they don’t expire for two weeks… just in case.

i agree yogurt is a bit much for me… i need to put something in it. here are 2 ideas that have worked for me:
vanilla yogurt, with strawberries (or any fruit) and toasted oats (i put them in a pan and brown them)
vanilla yogurt and lite coolwhip makes for a yummy parfait, add fruit and granola

I’m not a huge fan of yogurt either - I tried for a while to eat one that is Omega-3 fortified but… it’s okay, just not worth the calorie expenditure. If that makes sense. Like, I’d rather eat 90 calories of broccoli and cheese than 90 calories of yogurt.
Unlike the commenter above, I especially can’t stand vanilla yogurt. I’m not sure what about it puts me off so much, but it grosses me out. Even if I put stuff like fruit in it.
I think the second worst food experiment I’ve made was plain yogurt with sweetener and ground flax seeds. More disgusting than almost anything ever. I can’t believe people eat that!

Vanilla was one that I bought! I was going to try fruit in it today but now I don’t know?
I don’t get flax seeds at all. They just don’t look (or sound) like anything I want to put in my mouth…

I’d try it with fruit - you might like it better that way, even if I don’t
There’s just something strange to me about vanilla flavoured yogurt. Maybe it just doesn’t taste like I think it should taste.
Anyway, I think people only choke back flax because of the omega-3 thing. I don’t mind it in or on bread, but otherwise it’s just not worth it.

I did try it! This morning with still slightly frozen blueberries and strawberries, slivered toasted almonds and a tsp of honey drizzled on top. It was really good. I think the almonds make the difference.

Good that it worked out for you
Slivered toasted almonds can probably make ANYTHING taste better.
